Film, TV, Drones

Jola Too, being wide & stable with a large, partially covered aft deck is also ideal as a drone launch site.

Our team and boats have been involved in several large film projects over the last few years, both behind and in front of the cameras. These include ‘The Vanishing’ 2018, starring Gerard Butler and Peter Mullan, ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ 2018, starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie, and ‘Annika’ a six part TV series launched on Alibi Channel in 2021, starring Nicola Walker and Jamie Sives.

Annika was filmed on the Gareloch and the Clyde River and estuary in 2020/2021. Both Mustang and Orca (our previous boats) featured as police boats, with both boats rigged out in police decals, and You & Sea staff standing in as occasional body doubles, while Millbrook (our You & Sea flagship) and also Orca worked hard behind the scenes, transporting & sheltering film crews, cameras and actors. We also assisted with the filming of series two of Annika summer/autumn 2022.

Another interesting project we were involved in, filmed in Loch Fyne in 2021, was Wedding Season, a Disney production. Mustang was the camera boat and Orca and Millbrook provided support, including video and sound recording. We also sourced locally all the other boats required for filming. The newest addition to our fleet, Jola Too, with its huge aft deck, is expected to be much in demand for filming & TV work. It is an ideal boat to film from or shelter in.

We also provide consultancy services in terms of location, practicalities of filming, and filming from, boats on the water, and can provide crew for those tricky manoeuvres. We are happy to travel to film locations. If we don't have the boat(s) you need for your project, we can usually liaise with someone who does.
